There Has to be a Pony Somewhere!

It is easy to get a bit discouraged right now if one isn't careful. The elections are once again producing incredibly negative ads. Both sides are guilty of not letting the facts get in their way of the points they want to make. The media's coverage of the elections is no longer an objective reporting of the facts, but is slanted toward the reporter, editor, and/or publishers view. The reported election news has a partisan spin. One can literally read or watch a report and can walk away knowing the reporter's party affiliation.

Additionally, the economic news has been depressing as well. Banks are going under, retirement funds are being lost, stocks continue going down, and our government is going to be in business with many of the giant organizations that we thought were incredibly safe. Wow!

Many folks are not feeling good these days. They are feeling incredibly negative.

At the same time though, as many of you have heard me say through the years, one of the secrets of life is to Buy Low, Sell High. There is soon to be (if it is not here already) an unprecedented opportunity to pick up some bargains and buy low. Some people are going to come out of this even stronger and better off. I look at this downturn as an incredible opportunity! You can't buy low if prices remain high. You can buy low right now.

Now I have no insider knowledge and I don't claim to be an expert in financials, so do your own research and make your own decisions as to when is the time to capitalize on the conditions. The last thing I want to do is to influence you to do something that could impact your retirements, your children's education and even keep food on the table.

As you have heard me say, I don't do victim well. I don't think you should either. For me, this is a great time to take some action. As long as I am taking action, I am not just waiting for the politicians, the government or any organization to take actions to make my life better that may or may not work. I am not being a victim of someone Else's action or inaction.

Now keep in mind that I don't necessarily mean that taking action is just taking aggressive action. Some of the steps I have taken have been precautionary actions. It isn't just being aggressive. It is making sure you take action on the things that can help you right now.

Don't be a victim. Don't just let someone else make decisions that impact you and your family.

At times like this, I am reminded of a joke I heard a while back and I am sure many of you have heard this joke. (I am also going to clean it up a bit)

Two brothers were so incredibly excited at Christmas they could not sleep. They could not wait to see what Santa had brought them. As children will do, they woke up really early the next morning and ran down the steps to see what wonderful gifts were left for them.

As they headed into the room, they suddenly stopped. There was nothing in the den but a big pile of horse manure.

One of the brothers just looked at it, hung his head and said, "Oh, Man, all we got was Horse Manure!!!!!!!!!!!"

The other brother broke out into a big grin, jumped into the pile and started digging. His brother said, "YUCK! What are you doing?"

The brother who was digging just kept at it and said, "With all of this Horse Manure, there has to be a Pony in there somewhere!!!"

Keep that in mind each day as you hear the news. There is a Pony in there somewhere.

It is what you do everyday that counts!
